Q:
How can I keep my carpeting looking nice?
Regular vacuuming is needed
if you want your carpet to last. This will remove the
dirt and fluff up your carpet fibers. Also you will need
to have your carpeting professionally steam cleaned
about once a year. The heat revives the carpet fiber and
the strong suction removes deep down dirt that the
vacuum will leave behind.
Q:
What is the best type of fiber for our new carpeting --
nylon, olefin, wool, polyester, or a blend of these?
Customers are often very confused by the different
fibers available today. The answer is they are all great
fibers in certain conditions. Each room of your house
experiences different types of traffic and conditions.
Do you have kids, pets, or is the new carpeting for a
rarely used formal living room? Talk to your Grand
Strand Floors sales person and they will help you select
the right fiber for your home.
Q: We
are remodeling our home is new pad really needed?
Yes. Without padding or with worn padding your
carpet will not perform, as it should. The carpet
warranties also require minimum grades of padding for
them to be valid. At Grand Strand Floors we will explain
the types of padding available and let you decide which
will be best for your job.
Q:
Do berber carpets require a special pad?
We suggest that the customers use a thinner denser
padding under berber carpet. The loop construction of
berbers makes seams more noticeable and more difficult
to stretch. A specific type of padding is used to help
avoid these problems. Come in the store today and we can
show you the different pad used for berbers.
Q:
Every flooring store is the expert and often you will
get conflicting opinions from one place to the next. How
can you decide who to trust?
This is a great question and I am glad it was asked.
Flooring is available from so many sources that just
about anyone can open a flooring store. Look for someone
who has been in business for a long time. Good stores
last and bad ones do not. Shop a few stores and don't be
afraid to ask for referrals. Is the store neat and
clean? Owners who take pride in their store also take
pride in their work. Is the salesman genuinely
interested in your needs or are the just pushing the
special of the week? Flooring is a big purchase and
selections need to be made carefully. A sales person
should help you find the flooring right for your
situation and not their commission check. The old
adages, "you get what you pay for", is true. Is it worth
paying a little more to know your job will be installed
by a professional and is warranted by a reputable store
who cares about their customers? Look for the store that
you are most comfortable with and that you have the most
confidence in completing the job properly.
